Chiaki Kohara, has very a distinctive style when it comes to painting, one example being her collection of large-eared, stretchy limbed girls accompanied by amusing animals. These pieces are created with variety of materials including acrylic gouache, button, lace, and snacks packages. Her work takes you into a wonderland where every girl has once dreamed of going. She has been awarded on numerous occasions, including having won the Yayoi Kusama choice UNIQLO Creative Award in 2007, and having had her art adorned on the SONY Building in Ginza for the “Canvas @ SONY” Art Wall Exhibition in 2012. She is currently holding exhibitions throughout japan and even overseas, making fans of people from all over the world.

The world that Chiaki Kohara creates goes beyond the canvas.

It has giving new surprise to the society through artworks

coloring events, campaigns, development of a new product with

unique view of the world, her private activities, and collaborations

with various corporations. She creates her own wonderland in her

work and the fantasy attracts people. As of now, she actively

participates in lot of art fairs and exhibitions domestically

and internationally, therefore she has gained a lot of fans

2007

■ Prize winner of Yayoi Kusama prize at ‘UNIQLO CREATIVE AWARS 2007’.

2010

■ A winning work at ‘Illustration Choice’.

2011

■ Chiaki exhibited her first solo show, ‘Gimme a Hug’ at gallery DMO ARTS.

■ Chiaki participated in a group show at ‘DAEGU ART FAIR’.

2012

■ Chiaki was in charge of creating 38m high art wall on Sony Building in Ginza, award from ‘Canvas@Sony’.

■ Chiaki participated in ‘Art Fair Tokyo 2013’, ‘ART OSAKA’ and ‘ART TAIPEI’. She performed live painting at ‘ART TAIPEI’ and it was her first live painting performance in overseas.

■ Chiaki took part in the “Red Bull Ignition” and painted on the symbolic street light in Osaka America-mura.

■ Chiaki participated in art project by’GUNZE’ and released original design under wears.

2013

■ 「Chiaki participated in ‘Art Fair Tokyo 2013’, ‘ART OSAKA’ and ‘ART TAIPEI 2013’. She performed live painting at ‘ART TAIPEI’ and it was her first live painting performance in overseas.

■ Chiaki was selected as ‘Art Wall Collection Artist’ by JR Osaka Mitsukoshi Isetan and she drew a huge art work on its show window.

2014

■ Chiaki exhibited solo show, ‘Revolutionary Exhibition’ at gallery DMO ARTS. (The end of 2013 to 2014 years early)

■ Chiaki participated in ‘Art Fair Tokyo 2014’ and displayed 2m high huge figure of unicorn named ‘Revolutionary HUG Chan’.

■ Chiaki appeared on ‘UMEKITA Future Meeting MIQS’ as a speaker.

■ Chiaki performed live painting at ‘Japan Girls Exhibition 2014’.

■ Chiaki participated in ‘Cat Festival 2014’ as a leading artist and she also was in charge of decorating the venue.

■ Chiaki participated in ‘Art Kitty Parade’ supported by a shopping mall, Grand Front Osaka.

■ Chiaki participated in ‘Exhibition with versatile artists’.

■ Chiaki released original wallet collaborated with Mitsukoshi Isetan.

■ Chiaki performed live painting on Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi’s representative statue, Lion as 100 years anniversary.

■ Chiaki was in charge of main art work design for ‘Genius EXPO 2014’.

2015
